The Panther II in question was one of two test bed hulls, and when found had ring-weights on the turret (no Versuchs-Turm turret was attached at this time as it never went past the drawling stage at Rheinmettal) and then shipped to Detroit. The hull was later given to the Aberdeen Proving Grounds where a Panther Ausf.G (Fgst.Nr. 121447) turret was attached.
If I am not mistaken the hull was sent to the Patton Tank Museum for restoration and the turret body of another Panther Ausf.G (Fgst.Nr.121455) was installed.
