G33/40 Experimental Folder
The mountain carbine version of the K98, the G33/40 was shorter than it’s German relative. An attempt to make it even more compact was the creation of a side folding stock mechanism. Very few of these were made and never really issued to troops. Considered one of the “holy grails” by Mauser collectors, this particular example sold on auction for $20,000.
What I’m curious about is what holds the stock folded since there is no sort of latch to keep it secure. It might just rely on heavy tension on the folding mechanism.
