NOTEK LIGHT.
This NOTEK light from my personal collection is in NOS condition (new old stock) or unissued.
This was used on just about every land based Wehrmacht vehicle. It’s basically a black out light that was very difficult to detect from the air because it does not cast a beam of light the way a conventional headlight would.
It would light the immediate area in front of the vehicle. It was not designed to light your way. This unit is a mid war issue unit. You can tell this from the stamped steel light box base (not the socket mount) the early units had a cast light box base & used a toggle type securing bolt with a slit friction collar. Whereas the mid to late war unit used a regular collar clamp & hex bolt set up.
The light was removable & just slipped onto its socket mount. The socket mount was bolted to the vehicle via 3 bolts. The power wire was secured on the underside of the mount with a slot screw port & the ground was through the body of the mount.
This light is what I would refer to as a “transition year” unit due to the Feldgrau base coat of paint. I think as the Wehrmacht transitioned over to ordnance tan NOTEK repainted their existing stock to be compliant. So this light has the best of both worlds when it comes to samples of both Wehrmacht colors.
I even have the original cardboard packing box for this light. It’s in storage so sorry no pics.
