The first person who can tell me what is missing in this picture will have my utmost respect as a WWII Uniform historian.

saraspondaThe shoulder strap and the National Emblem are the first things I notice. Are you sure this is WWII? Because they’re missing breast pockets as well. On the breast pocket you’d see their campaign awards and iron cross emblem.

It was the National Emblem for the Luftwaffe.
The first version of the M40 Fliegerbluse (Luftwaffe tunic) did not have an Adler (Luftwaffe National Eagle), it was originally supposed to be worn under the flight coveralls, but quickly became a popular and unique garment within the Lw. Because these have the lower pockets mean these are the s econd version of the Fliegerbluse which was ordered December 2, 1940. The eagles were to be added by an order of October 1, 1940. This means these Fallschirmjager have not caught up on the order.
As for the upper pockets, the fliegerbluse did not have any, as it was a pilots tunic first. There is evidence of some having been made, but as of yet the information seems to lead to those having been added privately by tailors.
The Parade Tunic has four pockets. One unique thing you folks have probably noticed, Germans were allowed to have their awards on their regular tunic.
