200th post!!!
The Wedding Kiss August 8, 1949
For my 200th post, I decided to post a series of pictures of my beloved Grandparents.
I do this for a multitude of reasons, namely because these pictures really tugged my heart strings, because my Grandfather taught me what it means to be a Man, and I do mean a REAL man. He taught me how to shoot a gun, how to shave with a straight razor, how to tie a tie, that having dirt under my nails is no bad, that having rough hands from hard work is respectable, to always have a proper haircut, how to ask a lady for a slow dance, to always seat a Lady first, to walk on the street side of a sidewalk when walking with a Lady, to lay my coat/jacket down for a Lady over a mud puddle, to always open a door for a Lady, how to box, and many many other aspects boys ( I say boys, because until I meet them and they prove me they are men, they will remain boys!) now-a-days could learn about.
My Grandmum was equally as much of a teacher, she taught me how to be a Gentleman. How to hold a Lady while slow dancing, how to treat her no matter what her relation to me is, how to cook for a Lady, that wearing my heart on my sleeve is NEVER a bad thing, that women are much better company than men, that there is nothing wrong with learning, and that the day you stop learning is the day you’re dead.
As I sit and write this, the tears are welling up in my eyes. I’d give everything if I could tell them Thank You again, I hope I meet their approval. Just please, NEVER EVER be scared to tell the folks in your life you love them, another day is never promised, and everyday you’re alive is a gift, why not live them with love in your heart and a spring in your step!
