This Sd.Kfz. 251/21 ‘Drilling,’ tactical number ‘444,’ carries a clue on its nose armor, the ‘die’ insignia of 8.Panzer-Division. The last available ‘Kriegsgliederung’ of the 8.Pz.Div. dated 1.4.45 showed ‘Drilling’ only with the 4./Pz.Gren.Rgt.98, however it is possible that the final m.S.P.w. shipment in March included some Sd.Kfz.251/21. This example had the late war engine hatch, and three ‘uberschwere MG 151’ in a low mounting, obviating the need for axillary ‘Zusatzpanzerung’.
