Have a thoughtful and reflective ANZAC Day to all my Australian, New Zealand and surrounding areas. Having an Uncle who was wounded in Vietnam was treated by an Aussie fellow (Lance Corporal Jake), I’ve always admired the Aussies. During the turbulent decades of the 60s-70s the world was plunged into fight another so called ‘Police Action in a little South East Asia called Vietnam. During this time was ANZAC days lowest turn out, protesters would spit on returning service men & women in the parades. But the real meaning of this day shines through for the brave women and men who not only fought on their own land, but had saved humanity in the far flung regions of the south west Pacific. From the ill fated Dieppe raid, on their own land during the battle for the Kokoda Tract, to become legends in Africa when faced by the Germans under the command of Rommel. The German’s nicknamed them the ‘Desert Rats’ for their tenacity during the Siege of Tobruk. Anyhow I digress and to everyone, give thanks for those women and men who were valiant and courageous in their service to their country.
And to a one Lance Corporal Jake, CHEERS BIG EARS!
