Plate 03: The ‘seat’ of a Pz.Kpfw. V Panther Ausf.G (early) turret race is being is being machined. By looking at the machine’s logo it is MAN (Maschinenfabrik Augsburg Nuernberg) production machinery. The plates of the lower hull are produced by Krupp and were shipped to the various production plants to have the rest of the machining done and complete the Panzer.
Plate 04: A view into the hull of the Panther (the bearing race seat has been machined) shows the double arrangement of the torsion-bar suspension, the battery bank, the drive shaft from the Maybach HL230 V12 to the AK 7-200 transmission. The object in the middle is the gear reduction box which produced a ratio of 13.4:1, which helped the drive train combo produce 20HP per ton.
