Doodles/Sketches
Plate01:An unfinished sketch and partial ink rendering of a Sturmgewehr 44. I think I ended up trashing this one because I didn’t like the rendering of the (late production) laminated stock. A commission for a friend and fellow WWII German firearms enthusiast and collector.
Original size: 8.5”X11” paper.
Plate 02:Another trashed beginning, this time a picture of Theodor Eicke shortly after he was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak-Leaves in 1942. The picture was a commissioned work for a good pal, music partner, fellow WWII enthusiast, and Third Reich regalia collector. I eventually did three more tries before I felt I had it right. I kept this one as I sort of like the unfinished look of it.
Original size:6.5”X4”
Plate03:A thumbnail sketch in ink/pencil for a painting of Anton Szandor LaVey I did for a Church of Satan member. This guy who not only worked on special effects in some of the classics of horror during the 80s, he lived next door to the gal who played Kirsty (Ashley Lawrence) in Hellraiser 1&2 (who also babysat his son), has been successful as a sculptor/master pattern maker for some of the more (in)famous collectors figures, he now has his own company where he does beautiful statuary for lovers of the Occult and H.P. Lovecraft. Oh and I forgot to mention the fellow also owns a Hearst that was part of his Guinness World of Records longest line of vintage Hearst on a road at one time. the original size of this is roughly a 2.5”X3.7”
