Rear shot of Panther 424 of I./Pz.Rgt.26 shows the covers on the engine deck made from 5mm thick Schürzen and were a Waffenamt authorized field modification from December 1944 to increase protection from artillery and strafing aircraft. The crew have gone to some effort to camouflage their Panzer with large swathes of foliage on the rear and chicken-wire on the turret. This Panzerkampfwagen V “Panther” Sd.Kfz.171 Ausf.G (Fgst.Nr. MAN-121170) is an October 1944 production batch which include the following;lack of Zimmerit anti-magnetic paste, Kampfraumhelzug Crew Compartment Heater, Flammvernichter Exhaust Dampers, Self Cleaning Idler Wheel, Elevated Seat for Driver, Poison Gas Identification Panels, and Chin Gun Mantlet.
