Plate01: A Sd.Kfz.253 leichter Gepanzerter Beobachtungskraftwagen (armored observation vehicle) taking a hand at trying to tow a Kfz.79 Henschel 33D1 Werkstattkraftwagen (work shop truck) in the Russian mud.
Plate02: A Sd.Kfz.252 leichte Gepanzerte Munitionskraftwagen (light armored munitions carrier) takes it turn at trying to pry the same Kfz.79 Werkstattkraftwagen from the dense Russian mud.
Of note here on the Sd.Kfz.252 is the front armored plate is removed allowing you to see the early style radiator shutters used for cold starting/engine warming, very similar in design to the Sd.Kfz.251, with vertical slats operated by a lever and arm from the driver’s position inside the vehicle.
On latter latter versions this complicated design was dropped in favor of a simple, single horizontal flap assembly that hinged open and shut behind the nose plate just ahead of the front chassis plate, along with the driver controlled left-hand engine door that was opened from the driver’s position.
