the-odditorium:

Two examples of conjoined twins, on the left is an example of Craniopagus parasiticus and on the right we have a rare example of dicephalus dipus and craniofacial duplication combined both found at the Mütter Museum.

The Mütter Museum located at the The College of Physicians of Philadelphia is the oldest private medical society in the United States, Founded in 1787. It contains specimens from the 19th Century among these are the tallest human skeleton on display in North America, a 9 foot colon, the Hrytl skull collection which displays 139 skulls collected from Western and Eastern Europe with their life stories written on the Parietal plate, 19th century wax anatomical models, examples of  Anthropodermic bibliopegy (books bound in human skin) and many many other medical specimens.

Absolutely superb.

I really wish to visit the Mutter someday. Medical anomalies are really quite beautiful.

Thanks for this!
