Things of Interest: Sexism in the Hobby
I’m working on a somewhat sarcastic post that’s titled “Things That Are More Authentic Than A Girl In Uniform”.
I have a long list myself, but if…
A Panther Ausf. G Befehlswagen belonging to Fallschirm.Pz.Korps “Hermann Göring”.
Note the “disk camouflage” which means this vehicle was most likely produced at the MAN / MNH tank factories.
A Pz.Kpfw. V Panther belonging to Panzer Lehr Division near the Saint Lô area piled with Panzer Lehr Panzergrenadiers 11.6.1944.
Currently reading Elite Panzer Strike Force: Germany’s Panzer Lehr Division in World War II by Franz Kurowski, so expect a lot of posts about this unique and elite units of the Wehrmacht.
For those who didn’t understand what I meant when I talked about fat paratrooper reenactors, I give you this.
(which is sadly rather common)
So now, do you think it’s fair for that guy to call a fit young woman in a men’s uniform “inauthentic”?
”Men, we only have one triple-shute harness left. It’s either the Leichtgeschütz 40 or Fat Fritz”
Fallschirmjager:
As a Fleiger who has stood poised in the door of the “Tante Ju” I can safely tell you he couldn’t squeeze in let alone OUT the exit. But hey, at least he kept the McDolands wrappers in the trunk of the farb bikes sidecar…
SS-Schütze from the early SS-VT “SS-Totenkopfverbände” regiment.
An-SS-Schütze of the SS-Verfügungstruppe Regiment “Der Führer”.
Note: The numeral 3 next to the Siegrunen, as well as the stripped pipping of his collar-tabs that are the tell-tail signs of his station amongst the SS.
An SS-Schtüze of the SS-Mannschaft.
As denoted by his double-armed Swastika on his collar tabs used from 1944 on to identify full-time concentration staff who had been compulsorily transferred in from the Wehrmacht, SA, Werkschutz or similar non SS organizations. They were never considered SS personnel as their being conscripts rather than volunteers.
An SS-Sturmann of 1.SS-Division ‘Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler’ on his wedding day.
He is is an NCO cadet as can be whitnessed by his shoulder-board, notice the piece of tresse on the end of his shoulder-boards, also can be seen is BeVo cuff-title.
Look inside Adolf Hitler’s secret art collection unearthed in a Czech convent
During the Second World War Hitler moved some of his extensive art collection, rumoured to have contained more than 5,000 pieces, out of Germany to avoid damage from Allied bomb attacks.
Last week, 16 pieces resurfaced in a Czech convent and now they are being seen for the first time since Hitler bought them in the mid 1940s. (Photos: Petr Josek/Reuters)
Fallschirmjäger:
Fallschirmjäger during training, I swear these guys were crazy as all F**K.
They hit the ground at the average of 35MPH, dropped without weapons (other than their P38, or the NCOs with their MP38/40s), and had nearly zero support while doing so. Don’t get me wrong the Waffen SS, Wehrmacht and Kriegsmarine had some badasses, but pound for pound, man for man the Fallschirmjäger had the most ape-shit nuts men of the Dritte Reich!
