General Graf von Schwerin had sent out armored Aufklärung patrol into the direction of Liège. According to the records of 116.Pz.Div.’Windhund’ this patrol was made up of eight Panzer IV’s of which several are claimed to have been knocked out in Rocourt.
A Panzer IV in Rocourt clearly showing heavy damage caused by an internal explosion or a demolition charge. According to a veteran of the 6.Kompanie/SS-Panzer-Regiment 1 most panzers were blown up due to lack of fuel. Note that the muzzle break was removed at an early stage.
