……….sois-disant expert - gives me hives. One does not simply make a bland note about Kurt Meyer…….. our lad is rockin’ the parade ground in style.
The grandson of the one man on the right contacted me when I posted this photo years back.I was so honored!
And nooo.One does not simply make a bland comment about Kurt.
I’ve met one of the fellows who was his guard during his stint in Werl. He said that Herr Meyer carried himself as a professional soldier, but had a very warm personality and at candid moments could show his remorse not only for the young soldiers under his command but for all the death he had caused in general.
But, you have to take into account this was relayed to me from a man who by all accounts had absolutely no reason whatsoever to speak kindly of Kurt Meyer.
As for his little fan club on Tumblr, you should read his book. So many times I’ve seen someone say something supposedly attributed to him and be completely wrong. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve made mistakes, but be careful to how your words align with infamous historical figures.
But yeah… You can’t post a picture of Herr Meyer without word-vomit!!!
